In my final project, I explored the dynamics of father-daughter relationships from the daughters' perspectives. Using automata—mechanical devices that represent repetitive actions—I visually depicted moments from ten unique relationships. I conducted interviews with 30 daughters, which formed the basis for these representations.
Each automaton reflects the unique dynamics of a specific relationship, using materials like marble, wood, and sponge to symbolize various emotional aspects, such as stability, flexibility, and growth. Through color and form, I aimed to break gender stereotypes and evoke an emotional connection with the viewer. Ultimately, this project not only deepened my appreciation for my relationship with my father but also prompted reflection and dialogue among the daughters I interviewed.
